PHEW Trivandrum, began its operation on the 9th of July 2010. We were blessed with our venture, by the presence of Dr.Shashi Tharoor, Hon'ble Member of Parliament, who inaugurated PHEW Trivandrum on the 8th of July 2010. The inaugural ceremony was presided by Shri. V.Shivan Kutty, Hon'ble Member of Legislative Assembly.

Smt. K.K.Shyalaja Teacher, Hon'ble Member of Legislative Assembly, launched the functioning of the ladies hostel by performing the "Grihapravesham" Ceremony."Bhadradeepam" was carried out by Smt. B. Lekshmi, Counselor, Thycaud Ward, Thiruvananthapuram in the presence of Smt. K.K.Shylaja Teacher.The official launching of PHEW website (www.phew.co.in) was carried out by Shri. V. ShivanKutty, MLA.

PHEW is specially designed for Executive working women; tailor made to suit the requirements of our valued customers. Each room is equipped with all modern amenities for a luxurious and comfortable stay.

PHEW facilities

  • Located at the heart of Thiruvananthapuram City in Kerala, PHEW offers executive home stays to working women with the choice of weekly, monthly or yearly basis.
  • Each room is equipped with independent wooden cots and medicated mattress for maximum comfort and spacious enough to breathe easy. The number of occupants in each room varies depends upon the size of the room and can be either with 2 Cots, 3 Cots, 4 Cots or dormitory with 8 beds.
  • Each occupant is provided with a safety locker and separate cupboard with long mirror fitted on it. All cupboards have separate lock & keys.
  • Professional Administration with Resident Matron, Asst. Matron and other support staff members.
  • Round the clock Security with alert Security Personnel.
  • Depending on the availability, tailor-made solutions for each individuals - with facilities like single attached room, television, internet, A/C, laundry, mess and other housekeeping services- can be arranged on request.
  • Broadband Internet services for browsing, email, chat, and voice over call facilities are provided free of charge. However, to have access to Wi-Fi, separate request have to be made to the hostel authorities, for unlimited browsing.
  • Each room is attached with bathrooms/toilets of European water closets and granite flooring.
  • Each room has ceiling fans and necessary light fittings (with optional A/C facilities.
  • There is perennial water in the compound well with motor pump set and overhead water tank.
  • Inverter back-up facility during power failures.
  • Bed sheets, pillows, towels and other stationary items can be purchased from our margin free in-house grocery store.
  • First aid kits and preliminary medical aid facilities available on site. Lady Doctor's service can be made available on request.
  • Telephone facility for free incoming calls. But outgoing calls are post paid and are available only on request.
  • Round the clock availability of safe and pure drinking water.
  • Advance room booking facility through our web portal.

PHEW Rules & Regulations

  • Those requiring accommodation should fill in all necessary details in the admission book/ Application form of the hostel along with Admission fee of Rs 500/- and a refundable caution deposit of Rs 2000/-.
  • Three passport size photographs and a copy of proof of identity (election card / passport / pan card / driving license / ration card / etc) should be submitted during admission. Thumb Impression may require to be taken for some cases, especially for those with short stays and without proper documentation/ employer letter.
  • Parents/Local Guardian should be present in person along with the occupant ,at the time of admission. In some cases, letter from the employer is mandatory.
  • Hostel fees are to be paid before the 10th of every month. A fine of Rs. 10 per day will be collected from those who do not remit the fees by the 10th of each month. Room Rent will be collected one month in advance.
  • If anybody intents to reside in the hostel for less than 15 days, such persons will be treated as guests and fees will be charged on daily basis for 15 days and the payment must be made in advance. If the stay is extended for more than 15 days and less than 30 days, the fee charged will be on a full month basis.
  • Mess is compulsory for all occupants. However, certain relaxation will be allowed on medical background, if convincing and proper documents and submitted to the office desk.
  • There will not be any discount on room rents, once admitted to the hostel, even if you are away for a long break. However, there will be waiver on mess bill, if informed well in advance in writing to the hostel authorities and the occupant is away from hostel for continuous 7 days or more
  • The hostel gate/shutters will be closed daily at 7.30 pm and normally no one would be allowed entry after 7.30 pm. In exceptional cases and on prior intimation, relaxation may be granted if authorities are convinced of the necessity for the same.
  • Visitors are allowed only with prior permission of the warden and should be recorded in the visitors register.
  • Visitor's time for working women is half an hour and for students it’s fifteen minutes. Occupants are permitted to receive guests and friends up to 6.30 pm only and the meeting should only be in the common spaces of the hostel.
  • Occupants going out on holidays should fill in "Leave Application Form" with required Mess Waiver and submit it to Hostel Warden well in advance. Also record the date, time, purpose etc, in the register maintained for the purpose (Movement Register).
  • There are no restrictions imposed on Occupants for the usage of Water & Electricity. However everybody should co-operate in saving electricity and water. Lights, Fans, Mobile / Laptop Chargers and water taps should be turned off when not in use. Electric Kettle / Immersion heaters should not be used and if found will be confiscated.
  • Solid items such as sanitary pads should be thrown only into the special bin, which will be cleared and cleaned on daily basis by the house keeping department.
  • Special care should be taken for not dropping any kind of Solid items in the water closet/ Wash basin. It may lead to an embarrassing situation of drainage block – Making your life difficult at hostel.
  • Complaints/Suggestions of any sort may be given in writing to the hostel matron. If solution is not obtained within a week, you may please login a complaint to the hostel management via email (phew.tvm@gmail.com)
